Installation

Overview

By default, the MSI Installer on windows will configure Linked Senior to be in fullscreen mode. If you want the ability to close the application window you can configure the application to not be in fullscreen mode at startup.

Instructions

1. Install and register the application using the MSI installer above.
2. Create a file in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\LinkedSenior\config.json. The contents of this file should be:
   
   {
        "kioskMode" : false
   }

   If you would like the app to run in fullscreen mode you can change your desktop shortcut to run the application window as Maximized
   Note if there is already a config.json file you can just add the setting above to the file.

3. When the application starts you should see the icons for minimize, fullscreen and close in the top right.

Overview

There is no easy way to setup Linked Senior in kiosk mode using the MSI installer. Microsoft recommends you change some registry settings to do this.

Instructions

We do the following when configuring the registry for kiosk mode.

1. Create an account with no password (we will call it linkedsenior).
2. Create a startup.bat file in C:\program files\linked senior\. The contents should be:

        C:\Users\linkedsenior\AppData\Local\linkedsenior\Update.exe --processStart LinkedSenior.exe
   ) else (

        "C:\Program Files (x86)\LinkedSenior Installer\linkedsenior.exe"
   )
   
   

   This will check for an update and then start the Linked Senior app.

3. Update the following registry settings.
   
   
   [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
   "AutoAdminlogon"="1" ;specifies auto login
   "DefaultUserName"="linkedsenior" ;username to use
   "DefaultPassword"="" ;password to use
   "ForceAutoLogon"="1" ;log back in on logout
   
   [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
   "RunLogonScriptSync"="1" ;allow scripts to run before explorer runs
   "Shell"="C:\\Program Files\\Linked Senior\\startup.bat"
   
   

   Now you can logout and you should be automatically logged in (thanks to the registry settings) and Linked Senior should start (thanks to the startup.bat).
